Have you ever noticed that it’s so easy to slip into Debbie downer mode?
I have to do this.
I have to do that.
Ugh, do I haaaave to?
Any of these ring a bell?
You know this person and I’m sure you’ve been this person.
You are human.
I hear you!
Yet, if you want to snap out of it … here’s the secret weapon: Realizing that you have a different choice.
There is one simple shift that can change the way you think about everything.
Before I give you the juicy nugget it it’s important for you to realize something …
The three words, “I have to”, are fear-based words.
“I have to” totally hangs out in fear’s squad because in most cases “I have to” means your being selfish or you’re not living in gratitude or that you’ve lost perspective.
And fear loves that stuff. Because it slows you down. Stops you. Blocks you.
Fear especially loves when you are just going through the motions in life, barely awake, not noticing how good you actually do have it.
Think about this for a second.
Actually wanting to do something is so much more freeing than having to do something.
The “I have to” mindset is worried what might happen if you don’t perform the way you’re supposed to you.
“What If” I …
Things like this.
Replacing the “have to” with “I get to” is an insanely awesome gift to everyone around you.
Because it opens doors, creates a spark, flows good energy and makes things happen.
So maybe you tape this simple mantra to your computer to remind you every day the power this simple shift can have:
“I have to …”
“I’m lucky I get to …”
Try it … I think you’ll like it!
“I’m lucky I get to clean my house because I have a safe place to live.”
“I’m lucky I get to work out because my body is healthy.”
“I’m lucky I get to go to work because I can provide for my family and keep groceries in the fridge.”
“I’m lucky I get to call my Dad because he’s still alive and here for me to talk to.”
It’s one small shift.
But it makes all the difference.
When you are motivated by joy rather than fear you will set yourself free!
This simple shift can not only change your life, it’s super contagious and will spread to those around you.
Let’s start a movement.
Made with Love.
