3 Ways to Connect with Anyone!

“Networking has been replaced with Network Building.” – Reid Hoffman, cofounder of LinkedIn

Does the thought of networking freak you out and make you feel all icky inside?

When you think of “networking” do you think of getting cornered by the cheesy sales guy who won’t let you get a word in edgewise?

I hear you!

There is another way … I promise … it’s called “network building”!

This weeks video reveals the NEW way to network and how really getting this right can give you a big competitive edge.

If you are looking for an opportunity … you are always looking for a person.

Bottom line.

People control all the resources, opportunities and information in the world.

Not the icloud, your iphone, Facebook or Linkedin.

Good old fashioned people do!

So … what are you doing, on the regular, to put the right people in your life?!

Hey JH, welcome back from summer vacay! That video is so funny, I actually use it as a part of my Networking Must NOTS…well done.

Regarding networking, while the big networking meetings are not my fave, they are challenging to avoid and a part of our routine…so here’s what I do: If I think a specific networking event is a good one, I get involved in the “making of the meeting.” You may as well get the biggest bang if you are going to do something you don’t necessarily like doing…being an involved member for the organizing will usually get me a “public thank you” and access to the “list of peeps coming.” It’s a slam dunk followup too…email – “thanks for coming to our networking meeting….it was a blast helping organize it, and it was great of you to come to the meeting, your company sounds really cool and the _____ we talked about fits the market perfectly. Would love to help you spread your word and your services…tell me if you think this sounds like a good idea to you.

Get involved, show interest, walk the talk.

    1. Hey Doug! This is awesome and I love that you have seen that video. That guy gives me the eebie jeebies, you know?! I could not agree more with getting involved … a perfect way to make networking seamless. Plus, you walk into and event with instant friends (i.e. your fellow committee members!)

Great tips as always and thanks for sharing here!
